As part of the 17 DAYS arts festival, Greensboro Ballet and Cyrus Art Production are pleased to present “Stars of American Dance”!
For one night only, dance stars from across the nation will ignite the stage at the Carolina Theatre!
Stars will include:
Joseph Phillips – from the American Ballet Theatre performing “Tchaikovsky’s Pas De Deux” & a duet from “Who Cares?”
Maurice Chestnut – Tap phenom who’s performed with Savion Glover and on “Dancing with the Stars”
Karine Plantadit – former Alvin Ailey dancer and winner of a TONY award for her performance in Broadway’s “Come Fly Away”
Cecile Tuzzii & Phillip Skaggs – from Richmond Ballet performing “Pas Glazunov”
Juel Lane & Ursula Kendal Johnson – UNCSA & Ailey School alums, hailing from Atlanta to perform a contemporary piece
Summer Broyhill & Jeffrey Denman – “Hairspray” and “The Producers” alum performing an original musical theater number
Greensboro Ballet’s own Nina Bass & Matthew Baird – Performing a new work by Duane Cyrus to the music of the Carolina Chocolate Drops
Jarvis Wilson – Runner up in our “Hey Greensboro . . . Think You Can Dance?” contest, performing a Hip-Hop piece
Duane Cyrus will also be presenting his work “Gotham” with local professional dancers and dance students from UNCG
This is the first “can’t miss!” performances in Greensboro Ballet’s 2011/12 “Season of Stars.” We encourage you not to miss this rare opportunity to celebrate the diversity of dance in our country in this one knock-out performance!
